Thermal spray coating is a process of depositing the material in powdered form on the substrate surface for the enhancement of wear and corrosion properties. Thermal spray coating is one of the most useful and economical way to improve the wear performance of a component. High Velocity Oxyfuel (HVOF) is most commonly used process for coating due to its easy availability and versatility of operation. AISI 4140 carbon steel is selected for the present work as a substrate material due to its extensive use in pipelines that are used to deliver solid particles in the paper and petrochemical industry. In the present work a detailed analysis was done to study the effect of wear characteristics of Nickel based alloy on the AISI 4140 substrate deposited by using HVOF coating process.
