The effects of hyper and hypothyroidism on body structure, i.e. the relative amount and quality of bone, fat tissue and muscle, have generally been ascribed exceptionally to irregular levels of free thyroid hormones. This study was established to investigate the effect of thyroid hormones in Graves¿ disease on the level of some adipokines, leptin, resistin and serotonin hormones; The correlation between sera thyroid hormones free thyroxine FT4, thyroperoxidase antibodies TPOAb, thyrotropin TSH and serotonin have been indicated in comparison with control. The present study included 40 consecutive patients (25 females and 15 males) and 35 healthy subjects (HS) (20 females and 15 males). Their ages ranged between (30-65). The levels of thyroid hormones (TSH, FT4, TPOAb and Tg-Ab) were determined by using an enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The result of this study showed the increase in serum level of resistin in patients with thyroid dysfunction. The results showed that serum leptin levels were significantly low (P<0.004) in hyperthyroid patient groups as compared to control. Resistin hormones levels increased non-significantly (P¿0.05) than control levels.
