A new high king sits on Ireland's throne and a mysterious warrior arrives to test Devin's strength and will as queen of the north.
Devin has defeated Una in the battle for Cashlin and Ravenlough. With no other options, Una and Marcas escape and flee north to make new alliances, promising to be back to claim what they believe is theirs. Devin, still reeling from the fallout of Una's betrayals, looks to archery to channel her grief and anger. With Oran gone, she finds herself struggling to connect to the woman, and healer, that she was before being thrust onto Ravenlough's throne.
Una is not her only adversary, as Devin finds herself dealing with a new threat that finds its way to Cashlin's shores. The time of the Vikings has arrived and no one is safe. A steely warrior named Odin enters her life and tests her strength and her will. With an urgent desire to begin a new life away from the strife in his lands, he and Devin clash as their worlds collide.
