In the field of Nusantaran literary studies, systematic interpretations of individual literary works are still a relatively rare phenomenon. This book shows how such interpretations can be fruitfully produced for traditional Malay literature.

G.L. Koster has been affiliated with the School of Humanities of the Universiti Sains Malaysia, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia, since November 1993, lecturing on traditional and modern Malay literature as well as comparative literature.
