This 6th volume of "Colloquia Pontica" deals with the classical archaeology of the northern Black Sea littoral, discussing excavations and studies conducted by Russian, Ukrainian, German, Czech and British archaeologists and classicists over the last 10-12 years. It publishes much previously unknown material, and gives a clear picture of the achievements of scholarship in the study of the North Pontic Region. Book reviews and listing of new publications. Gocha R. Tsetskhladze, Ph.D. in Archaeology and Ancient History, Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow and DPhil. in Classical Archaeology, University of Oxford, works in the University of London. He has excavated for many years in the eastern and northern Pontus, has organised several international conferences, and has published extensively on the archaeology of Greek colonisation and on the Black Sea region, including "Ancient Greeks West and East" (Brill, 1999), "Die Griechen in der Kolchis" (Amsterdam 1998), and "Pichvnari and its Environs" (Paris, 1999). He is Founder-Editor of the series "Colloquia Pontica."
