In Decency, two aspiring guerrilla fighters explode a bomb in the United States consulate in Guadalajara. During their difficult escape they come across the past that led them to that moment, and also the future that awaits them. An old man is kidnapped by a pair of revolutionaries in the seventies. The old man remembers the boy he was, and the little boy remembers the old man he will become. If something has distinguished Enrigues books it is the violence with which he redefines the boundaries of the novel with one aim: to subject time inexorably rigid and lineal- to the much more flexible logic of language.
