One of the most well known stories of the Thousand and one nights compilation, in which the adventures of Aladdin are narrated, a young man is recruited by an evil sorcerer, to help him recover an oil lamp from a magical cave that imprisons whoever may enter it. Aladdin keeps the lamp and discovers that he can summon a genie who is required to serve the person who possesses the lamp; with his help, Aladdin becomes rich and powerful and marries princess Badroulbadour.
Carmen Gil started publishing books in 2003, and since has had more than 90 works published, many of them translated to different languages, aside from spanish. Gil specializes in children's literature, and works to share and aid in the teaching of cultural animation for children. Gil has also done theater projects, puppet shows, story telling and dance workshops, just to name a few. Gil teaches poetry courses in elementary schools. Gil gives talks to encourage reading for families and teachers. Gil has collaborated with various institutions such as Instituto Cervantes and Centro Andaluz de las Letras.
