The intensive agriculture developed in the Paraíba hinterland has different environmental impacts on water quality when compared to other Brazilian regions and biomes. It is therefore necessary to monitor various indicators of water quality, including assessing the use and disposal of pesticide residues used to contain pests that can jeopardise agricultural production. When it comes to family farming, family production is still intensive and of great local value, guaranteeing the survival of the family itself and the consumption of vegetables.
