This book presents the method of crop production statistics at smaller geographical levels like Block or gram panchayat level to make area-specific plans for agricultural development programmes. We proposed a new methodology for estimating crop production at block (micro) level by using multiple regression models at district (macro) level. This book explores small area estimation approach as an alternative for estimation of crop production at block level. This approach uses available district level data from crop cutting experiments and auxiliary information from various administrative sources to obtained reliable estimate of crop production at block level. An empirical study was also carried out to judge the merits of the suggested estimators. The empirical results show that the block level estimates of crop production obtained by use of small area estimation techniques are reasonably good. This approach can be adapted widely to other data sets from different districts and for several crops for generating the production estimate at block level.
