Enhanced Recovery after Surgery (ERAS) has been implemented to fast-track patients amidst their surgery to improve patient outcomes and cost. It has been widely utilized in most surgical specialities but it is in its infancy in thoracic surgery. These patients may present with multiple co-morbidities and often require respiratory support post-operatively. This book explores the role of the ERAS practitioner and looks at the patient perspective of implementing an Enhanced Recovery Programme in a tertiary referral center for thoracic surgery.
