Metastasis remains an enigma, despite all of our efforts to unravel its complexity. Hence, clearer understanding of metastatic disease will be required to significantly reduce cancer morbidity and mortality. Many hypotheses have been explored to explain the process, a number of which have been briefly described here. Metastatic tumors of the jaws are uncommon & challenging in recognition. Recent advancement has improved diagnostic difficulties & treatments. With these tools & hard work, we will be able to further unravel the inner workings of tumor progression and metastasis in the coming years and shed light on the mechanism(s) that drive the most lethal aspect of neoplastic growth.
