Both seismic problem and traffic-induced vibration problem are taken into consideration in this book from the viewpoint of dynamic interaction between soil and foundation structures. Based on the investigation results, appropriate countermeasures are proposed and developed through the concept of performance based design. The measure for seismic problem aims to protect the foundation against severe earthquakes, while the one for traffic induced vibration focuses on the vibration mitigation in the near ground where residents or some manufactures alongside are annoyed.
