In this book, we have presented the design and development of an algorithm to be used by each sensor node to efficiently flood the network to construct a logical hierarchical structure from a designated source point and suggested a Tree Structured Referencing Time Synchronization (TSRT) protocol to synchronize the entire sensor network with minimum complexity, which works in two phases. First phase used to construct an ad hoc tree structure and second phase used to synchronize the clocks of participating sensor nodes in the network with the objective to achieve network wide effective synchronization. Characteristics and concept of TSRT protocol along with improved version with failure recovery to achieve a long-term network-wide synchronization with minimum message exchanges and exhibits a number of attractive features such as highly scalable and lightweight is presented in this book.
