The term of medicinal plants include a various types of plants used in herbalism and some of these plants have a medicinal activities. These medicinal plants consider as a rich resource of ingredients which can be used in drug development and synthesis. Besides that these plants play a critical role in the development of human cultures around the whole world. Moreover, some plants consider as important source of nutrition and as a result of that these plants recommended for their therapeutic values. These plants include ginger, green tea, black tea, walnuts and some others plants.There has been a great deal of interest in the role of complementary and alternative medicines for the treatment of various acute and chronic diseases.Traditional use of medicine is recognized as a way to learn about potential future medicines. Researchers have identified number of compounds used in mainstream medicine which were derived from "ethnomedical" plant sources . Plants are used medicinally in different countries and are a source of many potent and powerful drugs.



Jihan Seid Hussein , Professor de Bioquímica Médica, Centro Nacional de Investigação, Giza, Egipto. Membro de várias sociedades científicas internacionais, recebeu um prémio de incentivo científico em Biotecnologia do Centro Nacional de Investigação em 2011.
