Biografische Anmerkung

This emotionally powerful memoir is the story of Catherine Brown, a survivor of child abuse and domestic violence.
As a child, Catherine felt invisible. However, she went on to find her voice and today sees a future that brims with purpose, meaning and joy. Catherine now wants to use what she learned from her experiences to help others. 'The dreadful things that I suffered have made me into the woman I am today but, finally, I like that woman,' she says.
'If you have experienced abuse, I need to tell you that you can break free. You have to be brave and push yourself to be able to recover. But there is always light at the end of that darkest tunnel, and my story is proof of that.'

Catherine left school with only a handful of written qualifications. School didn't accommodate or suit her needs as a dyslexic. However, if effort and determination had been recognised as achievements then she would have excelled.
Never being prepared to take 'no' for an answer, she managed to move from leaving school at 16 as a hairdresser, to a career spanning more than two decades as a police sergeant. Sadly, her career ended after being injured in the line of her duty leaving her with a permanent disability to her foot.
Looking for a purpose and reason to get out of bed each day, she has returned to her childhood love of art. Tapping into her creative talents she has both written and illustrated her first children's book, 'The Adventures of Roobie & Radley and the Christmas Campervan Rescue'. She has two West Highland Terriers and a VW campervan, which both provided the idea, and inspiration for her book.
