José Ortega, a young Spanish journalist, is posted to Berlin in March 1932 to report on the turbulent political scene during the dying days of the Weimar Republic. He meets one of the greatest stars of the 1930s Berlin entertainment world, Eric Jan Hanussen, a stage clairvoyant, who takes him under his wing.
