Klappentext

Republicans wage war on American democracy. They are driven by an ex-president and his Trumpists--the many politicians who wrap themselves in his cloak of racism, religiosity, and the Big Lie. Political historian Clemens explains what has gone wrong and what needs to be done to reboot America.

WHAT EXPERTS SAY ABOUT THIS BOOK
"Walter Clemens has produced a devastating indictment of Republican politics alongside an appeal for a human-centered 'reboot' of American society, economy, and values."--Mel Gurtov, Professor Emeritus of Political Science, Portland State University and Senior Editor, Asian Perspective

"Walter Clemens presents a vivid analysis of America's current state of affairs and suggests innovative and commonsense approaches to 'rebooting' the nation. This is not just another journalistic Jeremiad but a well-researched and thoughtful study of social inequities, declining public health, a twisted justice system, and the political virus shaped by the Republican Party's embrace of a psychopathic president." Christopher Miller, Professor of History, University of Texas, Rio Grande Valley and Co-editor, NETSOL

You may think you know all about Trump's presidency and the impact it has had on the U.S. and the world. Yet this powerful book will show you that the devastation is worse, considerably worse, than you surmised. Combing his analytical skills with deep understanding of history, Clemens has mapped out the present catastrophe but also outlined a solution. I can't recommend it highly enough. Igor Lukes, University Professor of History and International Relations, Pardee School of Global Studies, Boston University

An encyclopedic review of the damage inflicted on American democratic processes, institutions and values by Donald Trump, his enablers, and those bent on using our government to empower and enrich themselves. At the same time, a call to undertake the daunting task of taking action to fulfil our promises to all of ourselves. Ronald H. Linden, Professor Emeritus of Political Science, University of Pittsburgh
