Low Hanging Fruit by Susan Johnson
In the year 1980, 15 year old Erica is just coming to terms with her parents' divorce and the resulting hardship. When she learns that her mother plans to relocate the family to the remote but beautiful town of Leavenworth, Washington, her world comes to a crashing halt. As Erica, her younger sister Ellie and their mother settle in this Eastern Washington town, Erica finds herself challenged to test her boundaries, loyalties and, ultimately, redefine her sense of self. As her life unfolds, Erica slowly discovers the extent to which she will go to further her own needs and recognizes, perhaps too late, her own complicity in the disasters that take place around her.
Filled with feelings of insecurity and teen angst, Low Hanging Fruit is an intimate coming-of-age story where strength develops in the face of life changing events.
