This book offers an analysis of the four central regional security themes relevant to the policy-focussed discussions at the annual IISS Shangri-La Dialogue. Namely:
Tim Huxley is Executive Director of IISS-Asia in Singapore. He plays a leading role in organising the annual IISS Shangri-La Dialogue and the IISS Fullerton Forum: SLD Sherpa Meeting, as well as the IISS Fullerton Lecture series. He leads IISS research on the Asia-Pacific, edits the annual IISS Asia-Pacific Regional Security Assessment and contributes extensively to other IISS publications.
William Choong is Shangri-La Dialogue Senior Fellow for Asia-Pacific Security at the IISS. He helps run the annual Shangri-La Dialogue and contributes to research on regional security issues such as the South China Sea territorial disputes and Japan's evolution into a 'normal' power. He has had a lengthy career with Singapore's main English-language newspaper, the Straits Times, where he was Senior Writer responsible for opinion pieces and editorials, focusing on defence, diplomacy and US policy in Asia. He wrote his PhD at the Australian National University (2005-9) on US-China deterrence.
