Mike McGee was born with Spina Bifida in Fort Campbell, KY/TN, and grew up in San Jose, CA. He is 2003 National Poetry Slam Individual Grand Champion and the 2006 Individual World Poetry Slam Champion, the first person to attain both titles. A favorite performer to many schools around the U.S., he was one of the first American poets to perform at the University of Paris, La Sorbonne and at the Glastonbury music festival. McGee tours over 100,000 miles a year, was featured in Writer's Digest magazine, has appeared on CBC and NPR, and was a popular performer on HBO's Def Poetry Jam.
