Author Edward J. Marolda completed a 40-year career as a Navy historian in the federal government. He received a BA in History from Pennsylvania Military College, served as a U.S. Army officer in the Republic of Vietnam, and completed advanced degrees at Georgetown University (MA) and George Washington University (PhD). He has authored or coauthored several works, including "Shield and Sword: The United States Navy and the Persian Gulf War"; "By Sea, Air, and Land: An Illustrated History of the United States Navy and the War in Southeast Asia"; "The U.S. Navy in the Korean War "(editor), and "The Approaching Storm: Conflict in Asia, 1945 1965. "He teaches at Georgetown University on the topic of the Cold War."
