Semiconductors form the basis for the nano-electronics industry that powers everyday life. In this book - an updated and expanded version of its successful first edition - the importance and applications of semiconductors are discussed in detail. An essential guide for graduate students and industry specialists, it includes extensively-revised coverage on the electronic structure of semiconductors, lattice dynamics, transport structures, optical properties and electron-electron interaction.
With the addition of new chapters on statistics and optics, two expanded chapters on transport, and examples of the most recent applications of semiconductors, this second edition offers deeper insight than ever before into this rapidly developing field.
