Writing from a Jewish perspective, Levenson reviews many often neglected theoretical questions. He focuses on the relationship between two interpretive communities--the community of scholars who are committed to the historical critical method of Biblical interpretation and the community responsible for the canonization and preservation of the Bible.

Jon D. Levenson is Albert A. List Professor of Jewish Studies at Harvard Divinity School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He is the author of many books, including Resurrection and the Restoration of Israel: The Ultimate Victory of the God of Life and Resurrection: The Power of God for Christians and Jews (with Kevin J. Madigan).
