A powerful and poignant story of a young Australian soldier, trapped at the mercy of the winds, during the Vietnam and American War.
Follow the young man's intimate thoughts during his life-changing journey through courage and cowardice, compassion and cruelty, physical and emotional exhaustion.
Not simply a war story, but a discovery of the human spirit. Its vulnerability and its resilience.
Throughout the novel, there are incidents that have 'some' origin in an actual event changed sufficiently to maintain the novel as fiction while at the same time giving the reader a taste of reality.
Many veterans including myself have struggled with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, but we generally manage to get on with our lives and build our own families and futures. Sadly, there are those, like our character Brian, who really have struggled.
I hope that, as a result of this novel, the reader will have a greater appreciation for these men and how hard it is to come to terms with such brutal events that occurred at a time when they were just young boys in young men's bodies.
